Common Questions

How does your training program help with common local electrical issues like overloaded breaker panels?

Our curriculum places a strong emphasis on practical, real-world problem-solving. Apprentices receive extensive training in load calculation, proper panel sizing, and modern electrical code requirements specific to residential systems. This ensures that our graduates working in Colorado Springs are equipped to correctly diagnose and resolve issues like overloaded panels and improper grounding—common problems in area homes—by providing safe, code-compliant solutions that prevent hazards and improve system reliability.

What is the electrical training ALLIANCE, and how is your local JATC involved?

The electrical training ALLIANCE is the national organization, originally formed over 70 years ago as a partnership between NECA and the IBEW, dedicated to standardized electrical apprenticeship training. The Colorado Springs Electrical JATC is our local affiliate, administering this proven program here in our community. We are responsible for recruiting, educating, and guiding local apprentices through their training, ensuring they meet the high standards set by the Alliance to become skilled journeyman electricians.

As a non-profit, how do you serve the Colorado Springs community?

Our primary service is as a vocational school that strengthens the local workforce. By training electricians to a high standard of skill and safety at little to no cost to the apprentice, we provide a valuable career path for residents and ensure local homes and businesses have access to qualified professionals. While we don't perform commercial electrical work, our community service lies in elevating the overall quality and safety of electrical services in the Pikes Peak region through education.
